wiking and quotes

“The printed work remains the most powerful vehicle for conveying complicated information—though the electronic word is starting to give it a run for its money. (Johnson 23)”

This quote is explaining that books, encyclopedias, and all other forms of text, is the most powerful way to get complicated information out to the public, and the best way for us to understand it too.  This quote is also explaining that although written words, books is the best way to get this information out there, things like the internet, and the coming of age in this new “digital world” is helping to get the same information out there, but in a faster more precise way, hense “giving it a run for its money.”

As we see with new web sites like Wikipedia,  it allows us to research broad topics, on whatever we want to research. This information is right at our finger tips, and is shown to us at the speed of light.  Wikipedia is much faster at looking up information than a regular encyclopedia, or going to the library and searching through hundreds of books, when all you have to do is type a few keys and click the mouse.

i used the same quote that you used. It seemed that it was a popular one. I agree with your viewpoint and i wrote many of the same things. I liked the point that the information is “right at our fingertips.” This is a issue that i am addressing in my paper in English, which is about Google. Wikpedia is a big help when searching for a information in the internet. good job!
